Terms of Service

What Campout is

Campout watches campsite availability on Recreation.gov (and other reservation systems) and texts you when a site you've alerted on becomes available. We don't book the site for you — we link you to the booking page. Speed of notification depends on the reservation system's responsiveness; we do our best, but we can't guarantee you'll always get there before someone else.

Your account

• You sign up with a real mobile number you control. Sharing or transferring your account isn't allowed.
• You're responsible for the alerts created from your account. If your phone is lost or compromised, contact us so we can disable the account.
• You can delete your account anytime by emailing hello@campout.fyi.

Acceptable use

Don't:

• Sign up someone else without their permission.
• Use Campout to scrape, resell, or redistribute campsite availability data commercially.
• Try to overwhelm the service or its upstream APIs.
• Use Campout to violate Recreation.gov's terms or any campground's reservation policy.

We can pause or terminate accounts that abuse the service. We'll usually warn first unless the abuse is severe.

SMS terms

• You consent to receive transactional SMS by signing up: a verification code on sign-in, and alerts for campgrounds you've added to your watchlist.
• Message frequency varies. Most users get 0–5 messages per week; an active alert on a popular facility can produce occasional bursts.
• Reply STOP to any message to opt out of all SMS. Reply HELP for support.
• Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan.

No warranty

Campout is provided "as is." We don't guarantee that:

• Every cancellation will be detected, or detected in time for you to book.
• Availability shown will still be available when you reach the booking page.
• The service will be uninterrupted or free of bugs.
• Recreation.gov or any other reservation system will remain available or compatible with our scraper.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Campout and its operators aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to Campout is capped at the amount you've paid us in the past 12 months (which today, on the free tier, is zero).

Pricing

Campout is currently free to use. If we add paid plans in the future, current users will be notified before the change and the existing functionality you're using will either remain free or be made available under a clearly disclosed plan.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may pause or terminate accounts that violate these terms or otherwise abuse the service. On account deletion, we remove your data per the schedule in our Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally goes to the state or federal courts located in San Diego County.

Changes

If we change these terms materially we'll update the date at the top and notify active accounts. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
